John Hughes
VP of Product (and Partner), Hyvä
John is VP Product at Hyvä, overseeing development for Hyvä Commerce, Enterprise, and more, with the aim of building the product suite Magento 2 should always have had, focusing on merchants' real-world needs. Based in Shrewsbury, UK, he has been involved with Magento since 2012, having previously helped build and grow the agency Fisheye as Technical Director. He is passionate about performant eCommerce sites with exceptional user experience, and about helping developers and merchants get the most out of the platform. John is obsessed with everything orange (which may be related to Magento!) and plays an active role in the community - attending events, supporting open-source initiatives, and previously serving as a founding Mage-OS Board Member.

Content is critical to any eCommerce site or experience. Magento has had a painful history with its default CMS offerings, which have (rightly) led merchants to consider external solutions - and vendors to build them. This talk will showcase that a native Magento CMS that is modern and easy to use shouldn't be some far-fetched dream; it's a reality, and more merchants should take advantage. But this isn't a sales pitch or demo for Hyvä CMS. It's a guide for what to consider when deciding the right CMS solution for your store, sharing our learnings from building Hyvä CMS, alongside over ten years of my (and colleagues') experience implementing CMS solutions agency-side. It's aimed primarily at the decision-makers involved in selecting a CMS - whether on the merchant, agency, or consultancy side - with a supporting checklist attendees can take away.
